On April 25-27, 2008, the Staff of the Carolina Legion headed to Plymouth, NC for a routine staff meeting. The accommodations, however, were anything but routine as we were hosted by Lt. Keith Sawyer and his lovely wife Pat, in their beautiful home, the Four Gables Bed and Breakfast. We were well fed and well taken care of, and the staff of The Carolina Legion sends our hosts our most sincere and gracious thanks.
This weekend also marked the anniversary of the Battle of Plymouth in which North Carolina General Robert F. Hoke, of Lincoln County, retook the town from Union Gen. Wessels. This was also the area in which the CSS Albemarle had one of her greatest days, but sadly only months later, met her own demise.
One of the highlights of the weekend was being able to sit at a table once owned by General Brian Grimes. The Staff was allowed to dine and conduct their planning sessions on this splendid piece of furniture once owned by Gen. Grimes.
